Dear Ignite Prayer and Fasting Partners,
In October, I asked you to pray for an online church gathering that I wanted to try. We just finished a 7-week experiment and the Tuesday Evening Gathering went very well. We had around 15 people who attended the gathering at one time or another and we had a good time together. The weekly format had time for interaction, a devotion on a Bible truth, prayer and we took communion. Those attending expressed appreciation for the opportunity to get together (several have not been attending church in person due to Covid concerns). I appreciate your prayers for this endeavor as it showed me an alternative way to gather people for fellowship, encouragement and disciple making.
As the year concludes, here are some things I would like you to pray for during December.
Christmas Outreach in our new churches: This season is ripe for outreach and our churches have been planning on ways to reach their community during Christmas. (Craig Arnold sent me a picture of him playing Santa for the Riverstone community. I commended him for his involvement in his town.) Please pray for innovation for our planters and for participation in the planting of seeds for Jesus.
Northwest Indiana church plant: Please continue praying for this harvest field that continues to grow. Houses are being built and new communities are developing, we need to prepare to start a new church in this region. Pray for a planter and for direction for the best place to plant.
Prayer Campaign 2022: The theme of the campaign is “Following Jesus” and we will spend January 2 – 31 praying together each day via conference call. This is an important time of the year for Ignite as our prayers lay the foundation for our ministry in 2022. Year End Giving: We have sent out a letter inviting supporters to consider a year-end gift to our ministry. Funds raised by this appeal will go toward the church plant in Hammond in 2022.
A personal request: On December 9, I will be having my right hip replaced. I want to ask you to pray for me and my recovery, as I want to be back at work as soon as possible.
Thank you for all you have done for Ignite in 2021, your partnership continues to refresh my heart and our work as we bring the hope of Jesus to Chicagoland.
